2020 RACE CREDIT & CANCELLATION QUESTIONS

What happened to the 2020 race?

After careful consideration and in order to adhere to the CDC’s guidelines to limit gatherings of over 50 people, the Greenbrier Half Marathon scheduled for May 9, 2020 was cancelled.

Registrants were refunded their registration amount (minus taxes and fees) in the form of race credit to be used towards any Capstone Races event. Visit our Race Credit page for more information about your race credit.

What is race credit?

The race credit you receive is equal to 100% of the price you paid for the 2020 Greenbrier Half Marathon registration and can be used towards registration for the 2021 Greenbrier Half Marathon or any of our other Capstone Races events.

How do I use my race credit?

What if I used one email for multiple registrations?

All of the credit for each registration will be lumped onto the one email address, used at registration. You can choose how to use that credit and discuss with your other registrant on how they would like to use the credit.

What do I do if my email address has changed since I registered?

We understand there are email address changes. If you need to change your email address, please reach out to us at info@resortraces.com and we will make that change for you.

How can I receive my 2020 shirt?

Registered participants for the 2020 Greenbrier Half Marathon that was forced to cancel can order their 2020 shirts for the cost of shipping and handling. Please see our 2020 Shirt Order page for more details.

Please complete this order form by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, October 14 to order your 2020 shirt.

PRE-RACE QUESTIONS

How do I check if I'm registered?

If you are unsure if you are registered, we ask that you first search your inbox for an email titled “Confirmation: Registration for the 2020 Greenbrier Half Marathon”. If you do not find the email, please go to the “Register” tab and select the “View Participants” link. You will be able to search for your last name and you should show up if you are registered. You need to be signed in to access this information. You must be signed in to see registration.

If you do not have a confirmation email or do not see your name in the registration file, please contact us at info@resortraces.com with your name, email address and distance.

How many participants are allowed in each event?

How many participants are allowed in each event?The race is limited to the first 1,000 participants, regardless of distance.

Will there be shirts for participants?

Yes, all participants will receive a Participant Performance Tee. Stay tuned for the 2020 design!

Will there be medals for participants?

Yes, all finishers will receive a beautiful finisher medal! Stay tuned for the 2020 design.

How can I change my race distance?

You may change your race distance on our website here, until Friday, May 1st at midnight. After that, you must change your race distance in person at packet pick-up. Please note: If you do not change your race distance either online or in person with a Resort Races Collection staff member prior to the race start, you will be disqualified from the event.

We do not charge an administrative fee to change your distance. There is no charge to go down in distance, but if you choose a longer distance, you will need to pay the difference between the distances.

What is your refund policy?

The Greenbrier Half Marathon reserves the right to reject any entry. In light of COVID-19, we have a revised refund policy for 2021.

If you cancel by March 31, 2021 at 11:59 PM, you may receive a refund of your registration minus any taxes, fees or donations. You must email info@resortraces.com to request your cancellation and a refund.

If the race is cancelled at any time due to COVID-19, runners will receive a refund of their registration and do not need to request a refund via email.

You may not give or sell your number to another individual – if you do, this will result in your disqualification as well as the runner who uses your race number. There are no refunds after the March 31 deadline except in the case of a cancellation due to COVID-19. This policy stays in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected business or family emergency, pregnancy, etc. There are no exceptions!

How can I request a refund for my room booking at The Greenbrier?

If you cancel by March 31, 2021 at 11:59 PM, you will receive a refund for your room booking at The Greenbrier. You must contact the resort directly regarding policy and to request this refund.

What measures is the Greenbrier resort taking in light of COVID-19?

In addition to requiring masks and temperature checks before entering the premises for guests and staff, staff will sanitize objects and surfaces continuously and encourage everyone to maintain a safe distance when in line or waiting. Can I transfer my registration to another person?

Sorry, we do not allow transfers from person to person.

How do I defer my registration to a future event?

Step 1: There is an administrative fee of $20 to defer your registration for credit to a future race. The deadline to defer for the Greenbrier Half Marathon is 10 days before the event – April 29, 2020 at 11:59 PM. Once the deadline has passed, no exceptions will be made for deferrals.

Runners who deferred race entries prior to the deadline will have credit applied to their email address. Please note: the amount of credit you receive is equal to the amount you paid at registration (excluding handling fees).

Step 2: Deferring your race entry does NOT automatically register you for a future event. To use your credit, you must sign up for an upcoming Capstone race using the email address associated with your credit. The credit will automatically be applied at the time of your registration.

What do I need to bring to packet pick-up?

All you will need is a photo ID. If you are picking up for a friend or family member you will need their photo ID (picture of ID is fine).

Can someone else pick up my packet?

Yes, you can have someone else pick up your packet if you are unable to make it the expo / packet pick-up.  They will need a picture of your photo ID in order to claim your packet (picture of ID is fine).

Can I register at the expo / packet pick-up?

Yes! Please stop by the registration booth or customer service table and we will help you get registered.

Can I register on race day?

Yes, you will be able to register on race day AND at packet pick-up, as well as online up until one hour prior to the race – though you must pick up your bib in time to race! Please note if participant limits have been reached, then packet pick-up and race day registration will not be available

Do you offer a student discount / military discount?

Yes! Please email us at info@resortraces.com with proof of enrollment (picture of a current ID works) and we will send you the discount code. 

Will there be pacers?

We plan to offer pacers in the following time slots:

1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00, 3:15, 3:30

RACE DAY QUESTIONS

Where can I view a map of the course / see the course elevation?

All course maps can be found on our course webpage.

Is there a time limit?

Yes, all participants must complete their race distance by 11 A.M.

Are walkers allowed in the race?

Yes, however, you must meet the requirements of completing the race in four hours or less (any distance).

Are baby joggers or strollers allowed during the race?

No. This is to ensure runner safety and comply with liability insurance policies.

Are pets allowed on the race course?

Pets are not allowed on the race course for the safety of race participants, spectators and the animals.
However, service animals as recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are permitted on course. Should you decide to run the race with a service animal, please email your information to info@resortraces.com. Runners with ADA service animals will be placed in the last corral behind individual runners for safety purposes.

What kind of hydration / food will be available on the course?

We always provide water at each of our aid stations. There is also sports drink and some aid stations may also provide an energy gel or Gu. A more detailed overview of course hydration / food will be available closer to race day.

Can I wear headphones?

It is unsafe to wear headphones while running. Event organizers will not restrict headphone use and leave it up to the athlete on his/ her ability to follow direction while wearing headphone devices. If you do choose to wear headphones please keep the volume level down so you are able to hear and follow the direction of course volunteers. We have a unique course where you MUST listen to volunteers.

Where should I park on race morning? Are shuttles available?

There is ample parking available for non-resort participants and spectators at the Train Lot, located off Route 60. Enter 315 W Main St, White Sulphur Springs, WV  24986 into your GPS device and follow signs for runner parking. From the Train Lot, participants will take a shuttle to the start line area.

What is your weather policy?

We will do all we can to make sure The Greenbrier Half Marathon, 10K and 5K are produced as planned, but runner safety is always our top priority. Races are held, rain or shine, unless we determine that conditions are too dangerous. This will be based on a prudent decision made on race weekend or race day by Race Officials and local law enforcement officials.

If the race is cancelled due to inclement weather there will be neither refunds nor transfers. This position is consistent with USA Track & Field recommendations and with the protocol of sharing the risks associated with the sport of running. In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, Capstone Event Group reserves the right to alter, cancel or eliminate any/all portions of the race.

Will a gear check be offered?

Stationary gear check will be available from 5:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. next to the start / finish line in the pool house. The race is not responsible or liable for items placed in your bags and left at the bag check.

Where are the best places to see the runners pass by, so I can cheer my runner on?

We always recommend spectating at the start and finish lines! If you are looking for other places to cheer on your runner, please see the Participant Guide when it is released.

POST-RACE QUESTIONS

Where can I find my results?

Results will be posted in real time here! You can also view the results after you finish at the Results Table at the Champagne Brunch.

My results were wrong, how do I get them corrected?

If there is anything wrong with your result, such as a missing time, incorrect age, gender, etc., please complete the Results Correction form below (when available) so we can correct it! Don’t worry, we have an official, accurate time for every runner. If your results are not displaying properly, we will get it fixed and updated as quickly as possible.

Will there be professional photographers and photos for purchase?

Yes! Professional photographers will be on site for the race and will provide photos for purchase.

Will there be awards?

Awards will be given to male and female overall and first place age group winners based on chip time. Overall awards for the 5K will be presented at 8:30 AM,overall awards for 10K will be presented at 9:30 AM, and overall awards for the half marathon will be presented at 10:30 AM. Age groups are as follows: 19 & under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-up. More information about 2020 age group awards will be announced soon!

Winners must be present to receive their prize; awards will not be mailed out.

What are the age groups for age group awards?

Age groups are as follows: 19 & under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-up. More information about 2020 age group awards will be announced soon!

Is there a lost & found?

We encourage anyone who finds something on the course or in Runners’ Village to bring lost items to the Customer Service Tent. If you lose something during the race, please check with the Customer Service Tent for the item. You can also email  info@resortraces.com if you realize you lost something after the race.
