Start Time: 7:30 AM

Start/Finish Line: 318 Blackwell St., Durham, NC 27701

Route: The Half Marathon course is spectacular! Starting on Blackwell Street at the American Tobacco Campus, runners will begin with a loop through beautiful Downtown Durham and then head over to the quiet streets of the Trinity Park neighborhood. Next, they’ll run through the well-known 9th Street shopping/dining district and then through Duke University’s beautiful East Campus. Next, they’ll run downhill to Duke’s West Campus via gorgeous Campus Drive, into the Duke Forest neighborhood and over to Forest Hills. Finally, the-finish line awaits back at American Tobacco Campus on Blackwell street next to the Durham Performing Arts Center. *Course is subject to change closer to race day.*

Parking: On race morning, runners can utilize parking at the American Tobacco Campus North Parking Deck (305 W Pettigrew St, Durham, NC 27701) and South Parking Deck (705 Willard St, Durham, NC 27701).

Minimum Pace: Participants must maintain a minimum pace of 15:00/mile (gun time) to participate in this event. This rule in place to enable Durham Police to reopen the major roads used for race course. Our Finish Line will close promptly at 10:45 am. If you are not able to complete the race by 10:45 am, you may either walk back on the sidewalk or opt to be picked up in a SAG Vehicle. It is suggested that you train at a minimum of 14-minute per mile pace. Thank you for your understanding.

Support: There will be medical, police and EMS personnel throughout the course, as well as dozens of course volunteers keeping our participants and spectators safe!

Restrictions: For safety purposes and logistics management, baby strollers, baby carriers, and pets are NOT allowed in the Half Marathon, 5 Mile Run, or 1 Mile Run. No exceptions will be made. Littering on the course will result in disqualification.

Swag: All half marathon participants will receive a participant shirt in the size they designated on their registration form and a finisher medal.

Timing: All runners will be provided with race bibs with timing chips attached to the back. It is very important that the race number be worn on the front of your shirt to ensure that it works properly. In accordance with USATF Rules, overall awards will be determined by gun time while age group awards will be determined by your chip time.

Course Entertainment: There will be musical support along the route to keep you motivated to the finish line!

Pace Groups:  To run with a pacer, there will be pace markers set up at the start of the race and pacers will be at each pace marker wearing a red shirt with the designated time printed on it. Pace groups are as follows (by mile times): 6:30 | 7:00 | 7:30 | 8:00 | 8:30 | 9:00 | 9:30 | 10:00 | 10:30 | 11:00 | 12:00

Aid Stations: See below for aid station locations. *Details subject to change closer to race day.

  • Aid Station #1: Mile 2/3 @ Trinity Ave – inbetween Watts Street and N. Buchanan
  • Aid Station #2: Mile 4/6 @ Berkley St & Englewood Ave (HALF MARATHON ONLY – runners will pass by this out and back)
  • Aid Station #3: Mile 7 & 8 @ Jackson St & Carroll St
  • Aid Station #4: Mile 9/10 @ Bivins St, Jersey Ave & Chapel Hill Rd (HALF MARATHON ONLY, runners pass by this out and back; Gu will be available on the way back)
  • Aid Station #5: Mile 12 @ Vickers Ave & Morehead Ave

Porta-Potties: There will be plenty of Port-A-Potties at the start line and one at each aid station.
