This landmark running event showcases UNC Campus & Chapel Hill from every angle! The race starts on South Rd on the campus of the University of North Carolina and goes through downtown Chapel Hill as well as several gorgeous residential neighborhoods. The 10 Miler has plenty of flat fast road along Franklin & Cameron while taking runners through the historic Rosemary district and downtown Chapel Hill. Make no mistake about it, this is the best running experience Chapel Hill has to offer, and arguably one of the best in North Carolina. It culminates with a finish at Kenan Memorial Football Stadium.

The 4 Mile Run course starts at the Bell Tower then takes South Rd westbound to Columbia Street and up to W. Cameron Avenue. After a beautiful run down tree-lined W. Cameron Ave, runners make their way to W. Franklin Street via Graham Street where they can take in the vibe and scenery of downtown Chapel Hill. Runners head down E. Cameron Avenue via Columbia Street to run past the Old Well. Next up is a loop through the beautiful Gimghoul neighborhood then, finally, an exhilarating downhill dash on Ridge Rd to the finish line alongside Kenan Stadium. Overall this course is friendlier (no Laurel Hill) and more scenic, and more popular than ever!

The Double Down Challenge will start with the Fleet Feet 4 Mile Run course which starts at the Bell Tower then takes South Rd westbound to Columbia Street and up to W. Cameron Avenue. After a beautiful run down tree-lined W. Cameron Ave, runners make their way to W. Franklin Street via Graham Street where they can take in the vibe and scenery of downtown Chapel Hill. Runners head down E. Cameron Avenue via Columbia Street to run past the Old Well. Next up is a loop through the beautiful Gimghoul neighborhood then, finally, an exhilarating downhill dash on Ridge Rd to the 4 Mile Run finish line alongside Kenan Stadium. Hydration Stations

We always provide water at each of our aid stations. AminoVITAL is the official on course hydration. Along with AminoVITAL some aid stations may also provide an energy gel or Gu. Hydration station locations for each distance are listed below:

  • Fleet Feet 4 Mile Run: 1.5, 2.25
  • Tar Heel 10-Miler: 1.5, 3.5, 5, 7, 8
  • The Double Down Challenge will use the same hydration stations above.

Medical

There will be medical at the finish line as well as Bike EMS throughout the course. If you have a medical emergency please alert the closest course monitor or police officer. They will have direct contact with our medical team.

If you are a spectator we encourage you to craft signs and show your support. Please ensure you are not on or blocking the course at any time. The best place to see runners are below:

Tar Heel 10-Miler: 

Franklin St (Will see runners twice) (miles 1-3.5)
Cameron Ave and Columbia St (will see runners twice) – If they are on the south side of Cameron Ave it is an easy walk to the finish area without crossing runners) (10 miler – miles 0.25, 4.25,) (4 miler – 0.25, 1.75)
South Road and Columbia St (Start of the race)
Ridge Rd near the baseball stadium (end of race) – mil 9.8 and 3.8
Stadium Dr (Finish)

Fleet Feet 4 Mile Run:
