2021 Race Changes

We are thrilled to host the 2021 Greenbrier Half Marathon as an in-person race on Saturday, May 8. We know many of you have questions about updated protocols and safety measures. The safety and health of our runners and their loved ones is important to us.

Please see below for 2021 race changes that have been implemented in light of COVID-19:

Separate Start Times

Runners will start in separate groupings at the start line. We have pre-measured the start area to ensure six feet of social distancing in all directions is available for each runner, allowing for enough space for all runners to social distance before the race. Half Marathon group preference selections will be available closer to race day.

Half Marathon Group One: 6:45 a.m.
Half Marathon Group Two: 7 a.m.
10k: 7:15 a.m.
5k: 7:25 a.m.

Temperature Screenings

Anyone entering resort property will be required to complete a temperature screening and wear a face covering while indoors. Those using shuttles will have their temperature checked before boarding the shuttle. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or greater will be denied entrance to the resort and will not be permitted to race.

No Gear Check

No gear check will be offered for the 2021 event.

Face Covering Requirements

Face coverings will be required at the start and finish area. Runners will be permitted to remove their face covering on the course when social distancing is possible.

Water Stations

Cups will not be utilized for water stations. Water stations will instead include plastic water bottles. With these changes in mind, all runners are strongly encouraged to bring their own hydration packets for the 2021 event.

Text Results

There will be no results tent at the finish line. Runners will receive a text message with a link to their individual results upon crossing the finish line.

Post-Race Champagne Brunch

All guests are required to wear masks during the post-race party. The 2021 brunch will not be self serve, as hotel staff will serve the food this year. All resort staff will wear PPE throughout the event.

The Greenbrier Safety Protocols

All runners and guests must comply with the latest resort health and safety protocols. The Greenbrier resort staff will wear PPE throughout the event.
