Race Weekend Quick Facts


DEFERRALS: The deferral deadline was Friday, April 29, 2022 AT 12 PM. No exceptions will be made.

CHANGE DISTANCE – Breakers Bonus Add-On: The Change Distance/Add-On form will remain open until 24 hours before the race. However, if you choose to change your distance to the Breakers Bonus AFTER receiving your race bib in the mail you MUST attend our in-person Bib Pick-Up to receive the correct race bib.  Click here to change your distance.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: The last day to register is May 14 at 4 PM! Anyone who registers AFTER May 6th MUST attend the in-person Bib Pick-Up to receive their race bibs. You will NOT be allowed to participate without a race bib.


Race bibs will be mailed to all participants that registered before May 6. ONLY bibs will be delivered before race day. All participants will be able to pick up their swag at the Finish Line Festival.

You will need to attend our in person Bib Pick-Up, if you do not receive your race bib in the mail, change your distance after receiving your race bib in the mail or are an international participant.

Choose from three round-trip services originating outside the city or two one-way services that return people to the Start Line or to the Embarcadero BART station. Early Bird Prices are available now until May 9th!

Please Note: All shuttle tickets must be purchased in advance online prior to Sunday. There will be no tickets available onsite for purchase. Limited space is available for all routes so reserve your seats today!

Public Transportation

Muni busses will be running on race day. You can view their schedule and purchase tickets on their website. Click here.

Caltrain will be operating two extra trains to San Francisco from San Jose departing at 5:50 AM and 6:02 AM  Check schedule here.

BART will provide four trains with limited stops before regular BART service begins for the Bay to Breakers event on Sunday, May 15, 2022. The special service will get race participants to Embarcadero around 7am. Click here to view the schedule.

The special early morning event trains will pick up passengers for an Embarcadero arrival with limited service from the following peninsula stations; Millbrae, Daly City, and 16th Street Mission in San Francisco and from the East Bay; West Oakland, MacArthur, Pleasant Hill, El Cerrito del Norte, Bay Fair, and Dublin stations. These stations will be the only stations opened early for the service.


There is no official race day parking. There is no street parking available at the Start or Finish Area. Public bike parking will be available at the Finish Line Festival in the north Ocean Beach parking lot at Balboa.

We recommend booking convenient and affordable parking in advance through SpotHero, the nation’s leading parking reservation app.

Drop-off & Pick-Up Locations
While we recommend that all participants to make use of the shuttles here are our recommended drop-off and pick-up locations:

  • Start Line Drop Off: Washington St & Drumm St, SF 94117
  • Finish Line Pickup: Fulton & 43rd/Chain of Lakes

Please be aware a large number of city and park roads will be closure for the race. Click here to view the road closures.

Note the only north-south crossover points are at the Embarcadero & Howard St in SOMA and Crossover Dr. in Golden Gate Park

Water Stations
There will be port-o-potties available at each hydration station. Hydration station locations for each distance are listed below:

  • Mile 1.85 (Hayes & Polk)
  • Mile 3.2 (Fell & Baker)
  • Mile 5.1 (JFK & E. Stow Lake)
  • Mile 8.23 (turnaround – Great Hwy & Noriega) – Breakers Bonus only

Medical Stations
There will be medical at the finish line with police and EMS personnel throughout the course, as well as dozens of on-course volunteers keeping our participants and spectators safe!

There will be plenty of Port-O-Potties at the start line, finish line and throughout the course.

First Aid Stations
In addition to our water stations and medical support, we will have first aid stations available throughout the course.

This spring, we are offering 10% off our best available rate the weekend of May 15, 2022 as we welcome in the spirit of Bay to Breakers—an event that celebrates the life, laughter, and personality of San Francisco.


After crossing the Finish Line, celebrate with family and friends at the Finish Line Festival. Registered runners will receive their finisher medal and everyone will enjoy live music, food and drink. The Finish Line Festival is open to the public and will end at 1:00 PM on race day.

All participants will receive all of their race swag at the Finish Line Festival. Swag will NOT be mailed out and will NOT be available at Bib Pick-Up. You’ll receive your finisher medal as you cross the finish line. Then, you’ll need to pick-up your Participant Shirt at the Participant Shirt Tent in the Finish Line Festival area.


Overall Awards will be presented to the top 3 Mal, Female and Non-Binary finishers in the Bay to Breakers 12 & Breakers Bonus 15k.

Age Group Awards will be presented to the the top three finishers male, female and non-binary in the Bay to Breakers 12 & Breakers Bonus 15k. The age groups for all distances are shown below:

19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & over

All awards may be claimed at the customer service tent during the Finish Line Festival. There will not be an awards ceremony.
