2021 Bay to Breakers Race Updates

With the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and large scale events we put together Worry Free Registration to hopefully bring certainty to your registration. Now that the 2021 race is going virtual, anyone who was registered prior to the conversion can activate Worry Free Registration.

Make sure you know what Worry Free Registration means for you!

  • A registration for the 2021 Bay to Breakers guarantees a race experience for you! Should the 2021 race be forced to cancel due to COVID-19, all of our 2021 registrants will have the option to opt for their entire registration fee back in the form of race credit or to continue your run in our Virtual 12k. Race credit earned due to a COVID-19 cancellation will not expire and can be applied to any Capstone Race.
  • We’ve waived our normal deferral fee for anyone who wishes to wait another year.
  • Our “No Refund” and “No Transfer” policies will still be in effect for this race. 
  • A registration for the 2021 Bay to Breakers guarantees a race experience for you! While we’d love to see all of your incredible costumes in-person, we understand some folks have come to love the conveniences that accompany virtual life. You’ll now have the option to bring the WILD to you with our Virtual 12k.

Don’t worry though! We’ll still be able to see your epic finishes and costumes virtually. All Virtual 12k participants will be able to upload results and photos to show off their run on August 22, 2021!

All virtual runners will receive a bib via email that can be downloaded to represent Bay to Breakers while they run. Virtual runners will also receive the shirt and medal in the mail after August 22, 2021. More details about shipping and swag will be available closer to race day.

This year our beloved state of California is battling some of the worst wildfires reported in history. The Bay to Breakers tradition was built from hardship within the Bay Area in an effort to bring the community together. Throughout the decades Bay to Breakers has served as a celebration of the human spirit and we hope to continue the celebration and provide our support where possible.

We are proud to be donating a portion of proceeds to the California Wildfire Relief Fund. We encourage all of you, if able, to donate along with us in support of their efforts. All donations to this fund will support relief and recovery efforts for Californians affected by the wildfires.
